“The Jiu-Jitsu that I created was designed to give the weak ones a chance to face the heavy and strong. It was so successful that they decided to create a sportive version of it. I would like to make it clear that of course I am in favor of the sportive practice and technical refinement of all athletes, whatever their specialty may be, as well as good nutrition, sexual control, avoidance of addictions and unhealthy habits. The problem lies in the creation of a sport-oriented Jiu-Jitsu, based on rules and time limits, which benefits the heavier, stronger, and more athletic individuals.

Grand Master Helio Gracie passed away (January 29, 2009)

It is with deep sadness that I have to announce that the Master of Masters, the founder and architect of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Grandmaster Helio Gracie has passed. The Grandmaster is survived by his wife Vera, sons Rorion, Relson, Rickson, Rolker, Royler, Royce and Robin and daughters Rherika and Ricci his grandchildren and the Gracie family and a family of disciples all practitioners of the art he loved .

Tie Quan won URCC MMA middle weight title

Last weekend in Manilla was the site of a stunning MMA victory of Zhang Tie Quan, a long time student of Professor Quint's. Tie Quan went there and demolished his opponent and took the URCC middle weight title back to Beijing. Leading up to the event, Tie Chuan was training with Professor Quint and Kru Vince.
"Tie Chuan was one of my first students in China. He is liked by everyone and I am very proud of him!" said Professor Quint after Tie Quan's victory.

March 7, 2008. Master Pedro Sauer just recently visited Gracie Jiu-Jitsu China for an information filled two day seminar. The topics covered a wide range of technical details that left the students at Black Tiger Academy with a new view on the importance of the basics of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. China's first woman Gracie Jiu-Jitsu blue belt

November, 2007. Aihui, a Chinese national, was awarded blue belt under Professor Quint. She is the first Chinese woman to be awarded a blue belt in China. Aihui started jiu-jitsu one year ago and has never missed a single class. Her hard work and enthusiasm finally resulted in her promotion. A Gracie Jiu-jitsu blue belt usually requires a minimal of 100 hours of instruction and 100 hours of sparing. Congratulations to Aihui!

Professor Pedro Sauer Receives Red & Black Belt.
